The Buzz: Radda Golf, Escalade, Iconix Brand Group

Radda Golf, which is partnering with Urban Outfitters, will begin selling a limited collection of products from its disruptor men’s golf apparel brand on NBCUniversal’s new content blended ecommerce marketplace in Q3.

Escalade operating profit rose 22 percent to $3.0 million in Q2 ended July 13. Sporting goods revenues rose 14 percent to $55.6 million, fueled by 91 percent ecommerce growth to $24.8 million. Sales into the mass channel declined 3 percent to $18.8 million; fell 15 percent into the specialty channel to $16.2 million.

Iconix Brand Group sales dipped 31 percent in Q2 due to the transition of its Danskin and Mossimo brands and the impact of the Sears’ bankruptcy on its Joe Boxer and Bongo brands. During the period, the company finalized a licensing agreement for Rampage women’s footwear in the U.S. and added Zoo York apparel and footwear to the FILA Korea brand roster.

Retail Payment Processing is going to get faster. The Federal Reserve is moving ahead with an upgrade to the U.S. financial infrastructure that will enable faster payments at retail. Under the current system, transactions can take up to 72 hours to clear, according to the Retail Industry Leaders Association.
